Good news for Israel. Slovenia's parliament appointed right-wing politician Janez Janša of the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS), a strong ally and supporter of Israel, as the new prime minister on May 22, 2026. He secured a majority in a 51-36 vote in the 90-member assembly, officially ending a political deadlock following the close March 2026 general elections.
