Leaderboard rank is not proof of future edge. P&L and volume can reflect position size, timing, resolved markets, market making, or hedges that are not obvious from a public profile. Verify current prices, liquidity, and resolution rules before using a trader's activity in your own research.

Reading the board

Three checks before you follow a top trader

P&L / Volume

Separate profit from activity

High volume can come from frequent trading or market making. Compare it with P&L instead of assuming the busiest profile is the strongest.

Window / Category

Test whether results persist

Switch between day, week, month, and all-time views. Then narrow the category to see whether performance is broad or concentrated.

Profile / Market

Inspect the actual positions

Open the profile, find the relevant contracts, and verify entry price, liquidity, catalyst, and resolution language before acting.

How the Polymarket leaderboard works

Polymarket publishes a public trader leaderboard through its Data API. The board can be filtered by category—including politics, sports, crypto, economics, finance, technology, culture, weather, and mentions—and by day, week, month, or all-time performance. You can order the same group by Polymarket-reported P&L or trading volume.

Those filters answer different questions. The daily board shows who had a strong recent result, while the monthly and all-time views offer a longer history. A category view tests whether a trader's results come from a subject they may understand especially well. None of those views explain the risk, hedges, or entry prices behind the result, so the ranking should remain a discovery tool.

P&L leaderboard vs volume leaderboard

P&L and volume measure different things. P&L is the platform's profit-and-loss leaderboard value. Volume measures trading activity. A high-volume trader may be highly active without being profitable, while a high-P&L trader may have taken concentrated risk in only a few markets. Compare both columns and then open the profile before treating either number as evidence of repeatable skill.

Why the best-ranked trader may be difficult to copy

A leaderboard does not show whether you can reproduce the original trade. The trader may have entered before a price move, used a much larger bankroll, hedged elsewhere, provided liquidity, or held a portfolio of related outcomes. Copying only the visible direction after the market moved can turn a strong original position into a poor new entry.

Use the Polymarket wallet trackerto keep a focused research list. Then compare the trader's markets with live prediction market odds, AI forecasts, and market-moving news. That workflow helps determine whether the current price still deserves attention.

A safer top-trader research workflow

  1. Filter the leaderboard to the category and time period relevant to the market you are researching.
  2. Compare P&L with volume and avoid judging a profile from rank alone.
  3. Open the public profile and identify the exact market, side, timing, and approximate entry price.
  4. Read the contract's resolution rules and check live liquidity, spread, and related news.
  5. Form your own probability estimate. Do not trade merely because a ranked wallet already holds the outcome.

FAQ

Polymarket leaderboard questions

What is the Polymarket leaderboard?

The Polymarket leaderboard is a public ranking of trader profiles. You can filter the official data by market category and time period, then rank profiles by Polymarket-reported profit and loss or trading volume.

How often does this leaderboard update?

Alphascope requests the official Polymarket Data API and caches each filter combination for five minutes. The table is a recent snapshot, not a tick-by-tick trading feed.

Does a high leaderboard rank prove that a trader has an edge?

No. Rank can reflect position size, timing, resolved markets, market making, or hedges that are not obvious from a public profile. Past leaderboard performance does not guarantee future results.

Is trading volume the same as profit?

No. Volume measures how much a profile traded, while P&L is Polymarket's leaderboard profit-and-loss metric. High activity can still produce a loss, and neither number explains the risk taken to produce it.

Should I copy a top Polymarket trader?

Treat a leaderboard profile as a research lead, not an instruction. A follower may receive a worse price, miss an offsetting hedge, or take a different amount of risk. Check the live market, liquidity, catalyst, and resolution rules first.
